I haven't had a dream like this lately but I was thinking about it after reading [ profile] wolfette 's post about opening a cupboard for the first time in about a year.
My dream usually goes something like this: I'm in my house (never quite or even remotely sometimes like any house I've ever lived in, but, in that weird way of dreams, it is *my* house. So, one day, while cleaning or moving furniture, I find a room, previously unknown to me. Often the room is furnished (in one dream I recall, it was full of furniture that I can only describe as "Whorehouse Gaudy" All gilt wood and red velvet, with gold braided trim and tassels). Sometimes it's a utility room outside, full of old stuff, like my grandmother used to store in her shed. I'm always very happy to find this space and rather disappointed to wake up and find myself with no new room to explore. I'm sure it means something. I'll check it out.

Okay, here's what Dream Moods Dictionary says:

To dream that you are in a room, represents a particular aspect of yourself or a particular relationship.  Dreams about various rooms often relate to hidden areas of the conscious mind and different aspects of your personality.

To dream that you find or discover new rooms, suggests that you are developing new strengths and taking on new roles. You may be growing emotionally.

To see an appealing or comfortable room in your dream, signifies opulence and satisfaction in life.

To see a dark, eerie or confining room, denotes that that you feel trapped or repressed in a situation.

So it seems that what I dream is a good thing, since I find these rooms and am pleased about it, and/or they're nicely/opulently furninshed. Sure wish I knew what those new strengths were and what I should be doing with them.
