You should do your funny vampires. I'd love to read it. Vampires take themselves much too seriously.
One of my characters was suddenly from New Mexico last night because that's where you're from and it just seems like such a nice place. My main character is in Florida, even though we don't have wolves here... I'm still trying to decide what sort of business they should own/run that would allow for vast tracts of mostly untouched land to give their group a retreat and a place to worship. They're Pagans.. just something told me that a race who can be so influenced by the moon and nature should be god and goddess-worshippers. My ignorance may soon be on display for the world to see...;-)
Sounda like you have a good start though. I don't worry about the stuff I don't know until I get going and if I know it needs to be grounded in reality. ;-)
