Me and Clifford the Medium Red Dog went for a walk this morning. I brought the camera along to play. Here's a glimpse of the itty bitty town I live in. I refrained from photographing the five churches I passed by on about a mile walk (can you say Bible Belt?); none are terribly attractive and the one down the street from my house looks like a warehouse. Other buildings are prettier, or at least interesting.

Railroad tracks,... this town is covered in them. I don't even notice the trains anymore. The large brick building is the old Courthouse, now housing a branch of the local commuinty college. The clock tower does work, after being on the blink for a couple of years. They found someone in California to hand-make the mechanism. Guess you just can't run to Wal-Mart for a new battery for this one. And yes, that is a Western Auto store in the foreground, the last of its kind?
The houses are a couple along the historic area Walnut Street. They're usually huge, usually quasi-Victorian, even a couple of quasi-Tudors/Black Forest-y looking places. Some of them have been beautifully restored, others are aging somewhat garcefully, like a wrinkled Southern belle. It's not polite to ask a lady's age, after all. This Old House would have a field day along Walnut Street.
