It rainy, getting (what passes for) cold (around these parts) and I'm off to my parents' soon for a decidedly low-key Thanksgiving. No reason, it's always been this way. No big dinner; Mom is making the traditional chicken and dumplings, I'm taking a apple-butter pumpkin pie I made yesterday because I wanted to try it (and it's gooooddd. Thank the Lord for Paula Deen!) DH is home, though he was supposed to work. He'll stay here because he still doesn't know if he'll have to go in for the last 4 hours of his shift (he works 12s). I tried to get him to come, saying call early, but no such luck. He'll stay here and play online while I'm gone and I'll bring him back some C&D and a lovely time will be had by all. The dog will be happy since the parental units have a couple of acres for him to play in; there will be much chasing of the Tennis Ball.
Lots to give thanks for, though I may bitch most of the time anyway. Family and friends and a place to live and food to eat. But really, most of all, my friends. You guys are the best, whether I've ever actually laid eyes on you or not. (and whether or not I've schlepped cigarettes out of a foreign country for you ;-) You make me laugh and cry and wish I could be there for you to hug you and just listen. I love you guys, simple as that.

And it is now legal for Christmas music to be played, just in case you were wondering. Well, maybe tomorrow...

Enjoy your day, be it a holiday for you or not. Make it one!
